Is Coca-Cola improving its CSR?

Coca-Cola is set to launch a new greener, lower-calorie version of its best-selling drink in the UK later this year. Cola-Cola Life will contain a third less sugar content and will make use of Coca-Cola’s innovative plant-based packaging, PlantBottle, the company said. In a striking design change, cans and labelling of bottles will also be green instead of red.

The first Coke product to be launched in the UK since Coca-Cola Zero in 2006, Coca-Cola Life forms a response from Coca-Cola of its pledge to reduce the average calories per litre in its range of sparkling drinks by five per cent by the end of 2014. It will use stevia leaf extract, a natural sweetener, to help reduce sugar content.
